About

You know that feeling when you see a fawn sitting quietly at the edge of the woods?
There is something about it that feels safe. Innocent. Completely at home.
That feeling of being safe, grounded, and at home within yourself is something I've been searching for since I was a teenager. That's where The Rooted Fawn came from.
I want people to feel more rooted in their bodies, a little more at peace, and more at ease with themselves.
A Little About Me
I've spent a good part of my adult life trying to understand myself and figure out where I fit into the world. This led to a lot of studying.
Over the past 20 years, I've followed my curiosity through Reiki, flower essences, herbalism, meditation, mindfulness, reflexology, and many other healing traditions.
My first experiences with yoga and meditation led me into a 17-month intensive study of energy healing, holistic practices, aromatherapy, and herbalism. From there, I kept studying, trying to find a modality that fully resonated and represented my personality and life path.
This desire eventually led me to study herbalism at the advanced clinical level with Maria Noël Groves of Wintergreen Botanicals. I learned a great deal from that work, including something just as important as what I wanted to learn: I am not cut out to be a clinical herbalist.
All of that studying has helped me figure out what I actually want to spend my time doing. I've learned a lot of things I value, but Reiki and flower essences are two practices I keep coming back to. They have stayed with me and are the ones I feel most drawn to share with other people.
I am an Usui Reiki Master and Teacher. For me, Reiki is a way of offering people a chance to slow down, settle in, and just simply "be" for a while. You don't have to know what you're supposed to feel and you don't have to believe anything in particular. You can just come as you are and see what the experience is like.
My flower essence training grew out of the Bach tradition, including studies with David Dalton, Emily Ruff, and the Flower Essence Society.
Over the years, I've also had some experiences that have stayed with me.
For several years, I ran a cancer wellness group where I offered Reiki and other forms of energy work to people living with cancer. I volunteered with hospice, where I had the privilege of sitting with people and their families during an incredibly important and tender part of life.
I also volunteered with the Asheville City School District for four years, offering teachers supplemental classes in things like child meditation, adult relaxation techniques, herbal education, and flower essence support.
These experiences taught me a lot about people.
Mostly, that there isn't one right way to be a human being, and that sometimes the most helpful thing we can do is offer someone a space where they don't have to pretend to be anything other than who they are.
A space where we can simply meet them exactly where they are, without needing them to be anywhere else.

Reiki and flower essences are complementary practices and are not a substitute for medical care. I do not diagnose or treat medical conditions. My work is focused on the emotional and energetic side of life — the things we're feeling, moving through, or sometimes having a hard time putting into words.
I am not here to replace your doctor, therapist, or another qualified professional.
My hope is that The Rooted Fawn can offer a quiet, welcoming space where people can slow down, pay attention to what's going on inside, and reconnect with themselves. Sometimes that might be through Reiki. Other times, through a flower essence.
I think that's why I keep coming back to the idea at the heart of The Rooted Fawn: coming back to yourself. Not becoming someone different. Just finding your way back to what's already there.
Because we all need different kinds of support at different times.
